Absolut Vodka was first launched in New York in 1979. Soon it was on everyone's lips, in the United States and around the world. But the recipe behind Absolut's clear, natural taste actually dates back well over 40 years, as does the 18th century medicine bottle found in an antique shop in Stockholm, Sweden, which inspired the iconic Absolut bottle. Absolut Vodka is made using only natural ingredients and, unlike many other types of vodka, it contains no added sugar. In fact, Absolut is the purest expression in terms of vodka. Yet, it has an undeniable taste: rich, round and complex, yet soft and mellow with an unmistakable grain character, to which is added a delicate note of dried fruit.

The main ingredients of Absolut Vodka are water and winter wheat. The water, coming from a deep well in Åhus, is free from impurities. Winter wheat also grows in Åhus and stands out from the others: it is sown in autumn and harvested the following autumn. For a whole year it grows under the Swedish snow, germinating in robust grains. Furthermore, the use of fertilizers is reduced to a minimum.
