San Luis del Río, in the Oaxaca region, is located at 4100 feet of altitude and, on soils of rocky matrix, most of the local agaves have grown to the same height or a little higher. It is here that, under the wise guidance of the master distiller Don Baltazar Cruz Gómez, Mezcal San Luis is produced according to a completely artisanal style and in line with ancient traditions. The agaves are selected, cooked in stone ovens and ground with wheels pulled by horses or donkeys. After the natural fermentation in pine wood vats, we proceed to the double distillation in copper stills. A Mezcal with a pure and sincere character, frank in its organoleptic components, in which the characteristics of the territory are felt.
Transparent and crystalline to the eye. Herbaceous, citrus and lightly smoked aromas give a typical and intriguing olfactory picture. The sensations perceived on the nose return to the taste, transported by a clean sip which, on the finish, turns towards a mineral tip.
Served after dinner, it is excellent to drink straight or as an ideal ingredient for cocktails.
